Hello to all,
Well we are starting the month of June with our 8th Annual School Carnival, this Saturday, June 7th from 11 am to 4 pm. Please come out and enjoy the day with your kids. We will have Baja Fresh, Rubino's and Ranch House Meats selling their delicious food. All food vendors will accept cash only, no carnival tickets.
All booths are 1 to 2 tickets each. We have the Haunted House, Race Car Track, Minature Golf, Jet Pilot, Root Beer Floats, Mystery Soda Booth, Popcorn, Bowling Ball Roll, Castle Bean Toss and lots more.
Thank you to Julie Roshardt for coordinating a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week last week. The teachers loved the door decorations, their breakfast and luncheon and I am sure they loved their gifts from their classrooms. Thank you to all the Room Mom's and parents who helped out to make this week extra special.
Many of you may have heard that our school board is wanting to keep 20-1 in 1st and 2nd grade and have Option 2 for 3rd grade. This decision still needs to be approved by the board, but it looks as though our school district is moving forward with this plan. Even though 20-1 and LAAP is staying at our school, we still are losing $13 million in funds from our state.
Please, please keep sending in letters to our governor, senators and asssemblyman, to let them know we still want education to be fully funded EVERY YEAR!. This is still important, to make sure they know how the people of this state feel, and to make sure they balance their budget by June 30. Please continue to send in your letters.
Our last PTA meeting for the year is on June 10th in the MPR.
We will not have it on the 3rd due to voting taking place in the MPR. Plus we want to finish off our finances for the year and we need to do this after carnival has taken place.
Thank you to all for your support of the PTA this year. The money we raised with our straight donation fundraiser in September and our Jog-A-thon helped to pay for the following:
Meet the Masters, Book Fair, Taste of Melinda Heights, Carnival, Teacher Appreciation Week and Cookie Exchange, Book Exchange, Jog-A-Thon, Helping Hands, Spirit Wear, Library and AR expenses, Awards for students for Honor Rolls and Report Card Ribbons and buttons, Hospitality, and Legislative needs - Sacramento Safari and Convention.
Thank you to the members of the PTA Board and PTA Chairmen for all your hard work all year long.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer!
See you next school year,
Lisa Brosnan
