Happy Spring to all! I hope you all had a wonderful Spring Break.
We have some fun things planned for this month of April. We have our wonderful walk-throughs for 4th, 5th and 6th grade coming up. If you are a parent of a child in one of these grades levels, I urge you to come on their scheduled day for this special assembly. The company California Explorers does such an amazing job of teaching the children all about California if you are a 4th grader, the American Revolution if you are in 5th grade or Ancient Civilizations if you are in 6th grade. They make it fun and so educational.
We have a PTA sponsored Blood Drive with the American Red Cross on Monday, April 14 from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you can please come and donate blood, then just come on by to Room 37 or go online at www.givelife.org to sign up for an appointment ahead of time. We have had a great turn out for this in the past and it would be great to have another successful day of giving at Melinda Heights. Remember, every pint of blood can save 3 lives.
Now very important information!! If you have not sent in your letters to the legislators that we sent home, then please come by the office and grab another set. It is very important that we keep sending letters to our Governor, our Senators and our Assemblymen here in California to let them know they cannot suspend Proposition 98; they have to balance this year's budget on time and they cannot balance the budget by taking away all the important programs our children need at this school, at the middle school and at the high school. You can send in more than one letter. You can send in the letters we have already created, or you can write your own, if you choose. This is the only way they will hear what the people of this state want in regards to our children's education. Please take the time to send in the letters, we need to make them hear us. S.O.S. - Save Our Schools!

Reminder: The Carnival is coming up on Saturday, June 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Most classrooms have their booths and are ready to go. If you are a classroom that would like to participate in this year's carnival, we still have some booths that are available. Just email me at president@mhpta.org and I can help you find one that fits your class. If you have a high school student that needs community service hours, please have them come that day to help out. We'll have Ranch House Meats again and we are very excited to have Baja Fresh at this year's carnival.
